Hello family and friends!
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to do an international mission in the field of health. I have learned that my passion within this broad field of health, lies within the operating room, in surgery. Being part of a team that improves people's lives, while ensuring patients feel cared for and safe, is so rewarding. I turned 40 this year, and felt an overwhelming urge to 'carpe diem' on this dream!
It's time to be a part of something far bigger than me, through volunteering. I want to teach the importance of this to my children, and practice what I preach: be kind and helpful to others, appreciate giving more than receiving, and do whatever you can (big or small) to make the world a better place. I want them to be proud of me, of our mission, in hopes that they will be inspired, or inspire others.
I am very excited to announce that I will be joining an amazing team of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, in Guatemala from May 3-10. For six days we will have three ORs running daily, and will be performing multiple orthopedic, general, and gynecological surgeries to those in need.
The hospital we are going to has very little in terms of supplies so we will be bringing everything from IV supplies, medications, instrumentation, equipment, hip implants, sutures, bandages, and more.
Any support you can offer to this cause, and my journey within this team effort to improve the health of the people of Guatemala is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Rosa
