Hello everyone,

In October 2022, I will be joining a group of colleagues and friends to participate in a surgical mission trip in Guetemala. 

When I think about wanting to become a nurse, I knew I wanted to work in a career where I could directly make a difference. Though being a nurse in the Operating Room allows me to help patients every day, it has always been a dream of mine to provide humanitarian work for those in need- including those in areas of poverty. I believe there should be no boundaries to surgical care, regardless of race, ethnicity and social status. As an OR nurse, I feel called to provide my skills, knowledge, and time, in supporting those who wouldn't otherwise have access to the proper health care they deserve. 

For this surgical mission, I have been selected as a member of the Orthopoedics surgical team. As you can imagine, this surgical mission is a huge undertaking, and requires a large amount of resources and funds. Everything we need and use- we must bring with us.
