I will be participating in a medical relief and education mission with members of Team Broken Earth in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, in November 2024. This is the same organization that I travelled with previously to Haiti in 2019. Unfortunately, it has become unsafe for us to travel to Haiti for the foreseeable future, so our organization has shifted locations to continue providing care.

Team Broken Earth is a volunteer-driven registered medical charity. Our goal is to deliver medical care to our patients while collaborating with the local Health Care Team to share experience and knowledge. Our team is comprised of doctors, nurses, and specialized healthcare professionals from across Ottawa. We will provide adult orthopedic and pediatric plastic surgeries to patients who would otherwise not have access to care. 

The care that we provide is competely free of cost to the patients. In order for this to be possible, we rely solely on donations and fundraising within our community. The funds that you donate help us to cover the costs of orthopedic implants, surgical equipment and instruments, sutures, dressings, medications and anesthesia supplies, hospital expenses related to admissions and perioperative care, and finally, flights and accomodations for our team.
