I will be participating in a medical relief and education mission trip with Team Broken Earth Calgary in November 2023.
During our mission we will be providing general surgery care to patients who would be otherwise unable to access high-quality surgery. Your donation will directly support transport, equiment, and medication costs in order to provide this important service to vulnerable populations in Guatemala. I believe in this work very much, and hope that we will be able to help address the global burden of surgical disease, which the WHO estimates at 28-32% of the burden of global disease. The WHO also estimates that the poorest one third of the world's population receive only 3.5% of surgeries performed in the world.
