I will be participating as an Operating Room Nurse in a medical relief and education mission with members of Team Broken Earth to Antigua, Guatemala in November 2024. Team Broken Earth is a Canadian non-profit organization that strives to provide medical/surgical care to patients who would not otherwise have access. I am excited to participate in my first international nursing mission, alongside several colleagues from Lions Gate Hospital OR. In Guatemala we will work with a local organization called Partner for Surgery. PFS will identify a group of surgical candidates who live in rural/remote parts of the country and do not have funds or resources to obtain the care they need. Together we will be able to offer surgeries to patients requiring orthopedic, gynecologic and general surgery procedures. This is an amazing opportunity to share our knowledge, skills and resources in a truly impactful way.
