In January 2027, I will be volunteering as a Spanish-English translator with Team Broken Earth on a rural medical mission in Guatemala.

Our team of doctors, nurses, and volunteer translators will travel to remote communities where access to medical and surgical care is very limited. During the mission, we will hold screening clinics to assess patients, identify those who need surgical care, and help connect them with future surgical teams.

As a native Spanish speaker, I will be helping bridge communication between the medical team, local health promoters, and patients. Many of the patients we will meet come from Indigenous Mayan communities, where language and distance can be significant barriers to accessing healthcare.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this mission, and I’m raising funds to help cover the costs associated with my participation and travel.
