On New Year's Day 2024, I will be dipping in Lake Ontario to support the Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC).

Each year Boost CYAC sees approximately 800 children and teens for abuse investigations and sees another 1,000 children in trauma treatment and court preparation programs.   The road to getting help for an abused child can be confusing, intimidating, and traumatizing.  Children are often required to retell the story of their abuse to 5 or more professionals before they can begin their road to healing.  Boost CYAC brings police, child protection workers, nurses, advocates, trauma therapists, and court support workers under one roof so a child only has to tell their story once. This one-stop process takes the burden off of children and their families already facing high levels of stress and anxiety.
