I will be riding in the Rotary Ride for Hearing with my grandmother, Stephanie Lawton on July 14, 2024. Please Help me support The Rotary Club of Vancouver Ride for Hearing in aid of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in British Columbia.
Last year the Rotary Club of Vancouver annual Ride for Hearing raised over $115,000 to assist those suffering from hearing disabilities and to find remedies for hearing loss where possible.
The ride begins at 6:00 am on Sunday July 14, 2024 at Spanish Banks, Vancouver and follows a route around UBC, out to Steveston, Richmond and back to the City of Vancouver, around Stanley Park, ending at Spanish Banks, about 105 kilometers. Since 1985, Rotary has raised over $3.9 million dollars: •to support cochlear implant research at UBC; •to establish the Rotary Hearing Centre at UBC and provide ongoing support, including a Rotary Hearing Project Legacy Gift of $132,700 to the UBC School of Audiology and Speech Sciences made in 2013 to equip their Clinical Speech Lab and make it the premier teaching lab in Canada; •to open the Rotary Hearing Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital, including a new Rotary hearing project Legacy Gift of $250,000. It also supports the work of the clinic in research, education and innovation in treating hearing difficulties; •to support the Vancouver Community College Adult Education Programs for the deaf and hard of hearing; and •to support numerous hearing related projects in BC carried on by such entities as those mentioned above.
