Our message:

"Riding" in support of prostate cancer!

Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues,

As most of you know, Amy (my daughter) and I have been fundraising for the fight against prostate cancer for many years and this is our 15th anniversary doing this motorcycle ride. Since we have started this annual ride, all of you have helped us raise a mind boggling $113,220 - all personal contributions - which just goes to show what a huge impact each of us can make when we combine our efforts! I’ll be roping in Amy’s spouse Brennan to help again, as well as my youngest daughter Maggie and her new husband Konrad – and best of all, we’ll have to figure out how to include our newest member of the family, Amy and Brennan’s new baby boy and my first grandchild, Silas Peter Way.

We’re starting a little earlier for a couple of reasons: after almost 25 years working at BC Hydro in some capacity, I’ll be retiring on Feb. 20 and have to figure out how to keep this going now from my ancient home desktop until I finish refreshing my home computer platform AND, if you want to take advantage of this, charitable contributions made before the end of this month can be claimed on your 2024 tax return (due to the postal strike in 2024).

We didn’t quite make it last year, but this is the year the ride will have raised over $2M in it's 16 year history! We have set our initial goal this year at $6,780, a real stretch for our ride this year but we're up for it – let’s get our group to an overall total of $120,000 over 15 years!

What is our personal stake in this cause? My Dad (Amy's "Grampy" and now Silas' "Great Grampy") successfully beat his initial prostate cancer diagnosis almost 25 years ago in 2001, and because of the advances and knowledge gained about this cancer thanks to contributions from donors like you, has remained cancer free so far.

Men across Canada are facing an uncertain future with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Yes, there are treatment options, but the reality is cancer is cancer, and we all know there is no vaccine for it! Prostate cancer is the #1 cancer for men and the third leading cause of cancer death. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Support us and make a donation to Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada's Annual Ride To Live for Prostate Cancer via our personal web page below.

WHY ARE WE PARTICIPATING IN THE RIDE TO LIVE?

Because this event is for the tens of thousands of Canadian men living courageously with prostate cancer and their families. It’s for all the men who have died from this disease and the families who have lost loved ones. It’s for the roughly 26,000 men who will be diagnosed in 2025 and everyone who cares about them.

THE 16th Annual RIDE TO LIVE- 2025 is The Amazing Ride

Is an annual event hosted by Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, a volunteer based organization that represents prostate cancer patients, their families and communities. Even if you don't ride a motorcycle, you can still step up and volunteer or consider donating.

Every donation, big or small, will have a huge impact for men and their families dealing with a prostate cancer diagnosi. Just click "Sponsor Us" to make a donation.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for giving the men in your life the gift of health.
