"I'm Riding" in support of prostate cancer!  

This will be my fourth year supporting this cause and I will again have a team with me.

My son Nathan will be able to join me for the first time, my son-in-law Jake will be joining for the third time, along with two of his good friends Trevor and Matt who have joined me before are all teaming up to raise funds for prostate cancer research and awareness.  I am third generation prostate cancer on my dad's side.  It took the life of my paternal grandfather when I was 10 years old.  My dad was diagnosed with it when i was in my late 30s.  He continues to fight it to this day, having gone through various different treatment options at various stages.  Currently he is on one of the new BC Cancer clinic trials/protocol tests for some of the new up and coming medicines.  For over five years I have been able to actively monitor the cancer but this year I have had to make a decision on proceeding with treatment.

In the past year, another four friends and colleagues of mine have been diagnosed, scheduled for treatment and/or been treated.  Many of you who are reading this have had similar experiences where more of the men you know are dealing with prostate cancer this year than just one year ago.  For all the men who are living with the same diagnosis I have, as well as all the friends and families of those men that continue to stand beside them in support - I am once again fundraising for PCFC. I am riding because I hope that we continue to make strides in the detection, treatment and cure of Prostate Cancer for the next generation.

This is an annual event hosted by Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, a volunteer based organization that represents prostate cancer patients, their families and communities. Even if you don't ride a motorcycle, you can still step up and volunteer or consider donating.
