2015-07-22 - Systems and Security Upgrade

GiftTool pages where credit card information is entered have always been secure pages, indicated by HTTPS in the URL address. As part of a recent upgrade, now all of your GiftTool pages are secure. For example, you will notice the HTTPS protocol through every step of the registration process, starting right from the Description page. There is a strong push in the industry to make all webpages secure.

Benefits

  • An overall more secure and private environment: our new certificate offers higher encryption levels at 2048 bit encryption and TLS fallback to prevent downgrade attacks.
  • Extended validation: in newer browsers, all or part of the address bar is green, clearly letting your users know that the pages are secure.
  • Increased search ranking for search engines like Google.
  • You may also experience fewer logout issues in the GiftTool BackOffice.

All of your old HTTP links will automatically be redirected to the new HTTPS links.

Action Required

If you have images in the Description area of your Event, Pledge-a-thon or Membership, they now need to be secure, hosted images.

If your images are not already secure, you can easily host your images in the Image Hosting Section of your GiftTool account, and then update your Event, Pledge-a-thon and/or Membership with the new image (learn how). No action required for Shopping Cart or Donation clients.
