How do I grade completed tests?

The GiftTool system can automatically mark (also known as "grade") each test completed online by a respondent. When setting up your test, you have the option to:

  • Specify the correct answer so that the system would automatically score a students online response.
  • Allow automatic pattern matching for responses to "open-ended" short or long answer questions based on key words or phrases. Preliminary scores are automatically given based on the pattern matched response.

To finalize the test scores, you can review the answers provided by each student. Mark each test by providing a score for questions that have not been automatically graded and correcting the preliminary scores for pattern matched answers.

How do I  mark / grade a test?

  1. From the main menu of the blue Surveys & Tabs tab, click Mark Tests.
  2. Click Mark beside the name of the test to be graded, change the grades automatically given by the GiftTool system
    • A student may have completed the test more than once. You can decide which test attempt to allow. Unless technical difficulties interfered with the first test result, you may decide to only accept the first test attempt and discard the responses / scores from later attempts.
  3. Click Save Test Results at the top of the page when finished.
