In a world where every superhero possesses a unique power, there emerges a young boy named Phoenix. His incredible strength lies not in his physical abilities but in his indomitable spirit and unwavering determination to overcome the challenges of autism. Today, we present to you the origin story of Phoenix, a remarkable child on a quest to obtain a service dog to aid him on his journey towards independence.

Born premature and hospitalized twice within his first 60 days of life, Phoenix was diagnosed with autism just days after his second birthday. Along with being autistic he has Global Developmental Delays which include sensory processing, cognitive, social and communication delays.

Phoenix is pre-verbal with very little communication skills and has no regard for his personal safety or any impending danger. As a sensory seeker Phoenix often is trying to climb on top of things for a better vantage point, squeeze under and fit into places he does not belong for compression. He also checks out the perimeter of all new places we attend, plotting an escape route and looking for any weaknesses in the structure.

A service dog would stop him from running into traffic, eloping and provide safety and comfort when he needs it, it would also allow our family to be able to safely attend more events and day to day activities together.


We are thrilled that our family has been approved for a K4Paws Service Dog and can’t wait for Phoenix to obtain the companion he so desperately needs!  We are grateful that as a charity they provide their dogs no cost.

But we know that raising and training a service dog comes with a significant cost – about $25,000 –that lies beyond the reach of most families.   

That's why we are rallying together to support K4Paws. We believe in the transformative power of service dogs and the immense positive impact they can have on the lives of individuals with autism.
