How do I add automated GiftTool RSS event feeds to my website?

Need to generate an automated list of upcoming events for a website listing? Want more control over the display of your list of events than the Event Listings page gives you?

Now you can use the automated GiftTool RSS event feeds to automatically pull the latest information for your active events with open registration. Your developer can use the RSS feeds to display your list of events in any way they choose. By clicking the event name, viewers will be taken to the GiftTool Description page of your event.

Split your events into categories to generate different lists. And include your event description along with the name of each event.

Here's how it works:

There are a variety of feeds to choose from:

  • rss_0.9 [list of event names only]
  • rss_0.91 [list of event names with your description]
  • rss_0.92 [list of event names with your description]
  • rss_0.93 [list of event names with the start date/time and your description]
  • rss_0.94 [list of event names with the start date/time and your description]
  • rss_1.0 [list of event names with the start date/time and your description]
  • rss_2.0 [list of event names with the start date/time and your description]
  • atom_0.3 [list of event names with the start date/time and the HTML code of your description]
  • atom_1.0 [list of event names with the start date/time]

You must develop a feed for each Category of events by creating a links as follows:

  1. Here is the basic link:
    https://www.gifttool.com/registrar/RSSEventList?ID=15&LNG=EN&VER=1&CID=314&FORMAT=rss_2.0
  2. Replace ID=15 with your account ID number found on the Dashboard page when you first login to your account. This account ID number is also found on all invoices, and built into the links for all your GiftTool pages.
  3. By changing the CID= and FORMAT= parts of this link you will have the different data streams.
    • Replace CID=314 to the actual Category ID number from your account will give you the data for all events in that Category (for example CID=617).
    • CID=0 will give you the data for any events that are not part of a Category.
    • Replace FORMAT=rss_2.0 with any of the RSS feeds listed above (for example FORMAT=rss_0.9 or FORMAT=atom_1.0).

Tip: When pasting the link into a Google Chrome browser, you will be able to see the code & data. Pasting the link into other browsers will display your list of events along with instructions to subscribe to this RSS feed.
